The Rochford family has been involved in horticulture in the Lea valley since the mid-nineteenth century. The current company, Joseph Rochford Gardens Ltd, opened its gates at Letty Green in 1974 with just 1 hectare of land. Since then three production sites in Hertfordshire have been developed covering a total of 20 hectares.
Our managing director, who took over the nursery in 1976, is Paul Rochford, the great grandson of Joseph Rochford.
Rochford's Drive-In, our cash and carry facility open to the landscape industry, has operated at Letty Green since the 1970's. Over the last 15 years it has been developed in respect ot the range of plants available and the quality of the stock. Plants are constantly delivered from our production nurseries ensuring that Rochford's Drive-In always holds the best quality plants and provides continuity of supply. this area is now the focal point for customers visiting the site. the simplicity of "Drive In, Load Up, and Check Out" works brilliantly for them!
