Environment Statement
Joseph Rochfords is dedicated to the production and supply of best quality plants and related products. The business is intrinsically linked to environmental well being, therefore we must ensure that our commercial activities do not detract from our positive contribution.
We recognise that in our daily operations we will inevitably impact on the environment in a number of ways. We have a responsibility to minimise the potentially harmful effects of such activities wherever and whenever possible. We comply with all aspects of EU and UK law, regulations and codes of practice which govern pesticide use, pollution, waste and associated issues, and the health and safety of our employees, customers and other people who may be affected by our operations.
Our Environmental Policy provides the basis for efficient, profitable nursery stock production that is economically viable and environmentally responsible. The policy includes all aspects of the business to form a cohesive and sustainable integrated crop management system. The aim is high quality production with the emphasis on careful control of inputs to minimise waste and pollution and to enhance energy efficiency.
Rochfords has been a certified member of the British Ornamental Plant Producers Quality Management scheme (BOPP) since 2004. The scheme examines all aspects of the business including environmental, legal and ethical policies. The BOPP audit methodology encourages continuous improvement of the business and its policies.
The Environmental Statement and Policy is supported by internal audits on Conservation, Energy, Pollution and Waste, and an Environmental Action Plan. Management assesses the environmental impact of the company by undertaking annual reviews of the Environmental Policy and associated documents. This enables us to monitor and identify improvements to our environmental performance.
