Rochfords is a wholesale nursery stock producer serving landscape businesses of all sizes with container grown, containerised, root-balled and bare-root stock. We grow a wide range of shrubs, trees and perennials – batch produced for year round availability. The nursery operates on sites totalling over 20 hectares across 3 sites in the Hertford and St Albans area of Hertfordshire. Two sites are production only. The third site holds a production area, the cash and carry used by many of our customers and our head office. Each site has a dedicated production team who work to produce plants of the highest quality whilst minimising inputs and waste.
Stock is grown to provide strong, best quality landscape material to fulfil the needs of our customers. The majority of material is grown outside to remove the necessity for acclimatisation prior to planting. Stock grown undercover is grown in unheated, ventilated tunnels and glasshouses.
To provide the best range for our customers Rochfords specialises in growing an enormous range of stock in many different sizes. This ensures we can meet customer needs.
Rochfords also buys stock from selected producers from all over Europe in order to offer an unrivalled range of plants.
Rochfords does not propagate stock for potting. All potting material is carefully sourced from across the UK and Europe. We have a close relationship with many of our suppliers enabling us to provide the best possible product to our customers.
Plants can be supplied to NPS standards when requested. This must be specified at the initial enquiry.
Integrated Crop Management methods are used on all sites to reduce pesticide use and improve plant quality in a cost effective and environmentally responsible way, whilst using resources as efficiently as possible. Two sites have water catchment ponds which collect run-off from the site. This water is then used for irrigation purposes. Water filtration methods are in place including natural filtration beds using iris, acorus, typha and phragmites.
Full traceability systems are in place which enables the input to crops to be monitored from arrival to arrival to point of sale.
